The Postpartum Period: One of Life’s Most Personal Journeys
The postpartum period is so deeply personal and unique. There are countless factors that shape the experience, and at times, it can feel impossible—or even pointless—to prepare for it.
That’s how I felt anyway.I wish I had even a loose plan or a few reliable resources. It could have changed so much.
You really can’t predict what you’ll need, but you can make space for support. Because sometimes it’s 2 AM, your baby won’t stop crying, you’re recovering from an unexpected C-section, your toddler just came home sick, and your elderly parent also needs your help. It can feel as though your stretching too thin and you’re not sure how much more you have to dole out to others.
Knowing what fills your cup now, will save you in the future.
Resting takes effort
That’s why connection matters so much. It’s why those Facebook groups thrive—they link you to people who’ve been where you are and know where to turn for help.
We spend so much energy caring for ourselves during pregnancy—taking vitamins, eating well, making appointments, easing back pain, limiting stress. So why do we stop once baby arrives? Maybe it’s not that we forget or we don’t want to, maybe it’s that we simply have nothing left to give. You’re adjusting, adapting, surviving. How could you possibly find time for yourself?
You do it before baby comes.
You plan—with flexibility in mind. You set up resources and care in advance so that when life hits full speed, you already have somewhere (and someone) to turn to. Even if we can’t meet every need ourselves, we know people who can. We’re deeply connected in Portland’s “taking care of mama and baby” world—and we love helping you find the right support.
Caring for yourself shouldn’t stop after birth. It will get harder, yes—but that’s all the more reason to have a plan in place. The world has made some things easier: nourishing meals can be delivered to your door, online scheduling means care can fit your new rhythm, and there’s more postpartum knowledge than ever before. There is light at the end of the tunnel—and we’re here to help you see it.
Introducing: The Postpartum Experience Package
We created our Postpartum Experience Package to serve you, your baby, and your growing family during this transformative time.
It’s easy to think these services are luxuries—but when your partner’s out of town for work and nourishing meals arrive at your door, it feels like a miracle.
When you’re four to six months in and ready to reconnect with your body—not to “bounce back,” but to rebuild strength and confidence—a personal training class is waiting for you, no research required.
When your baby is colicky and struggling to digest, you’ll remember the massage techniques you learned in your postpartum class and feel empowered to comfort them.
And when your back starts screaming from all those 4 AM feeds, you’ll realize: “Wait—I already have massages booked and paid for.”
These things won’t solve everything, but they will make a world of difference.
You’re not alone in the Postpartum period of your life!
